Often people complain about foot pain which is experienced from conditions like bunions, hammertoes, a pinched nerve (neuroma), or plantar fasciitis (heel pain). Medical professionals recommend getting orthotics to get rid of your foot problems. Physiotherapy Orthotics are also known by different names such as insoles, footbeds, or inserts.

At our MJPhysio Physiotherapy clinic located at Vancouver, Surrey, and Fleetwood locations, we provide orthotics physiotherapy services. We begin with evaluating and examining, and then review the origin, mechanics, and treatment plan for a specific problem or issue.

What are Orthotics?

Orthotics are basically a temporary insole that would help you to restore balance to your walking pattern and allow you to regain your daily life pain-free. If you’re experiencing constant foot pain then you must need a quality orthotic made to support the foot.

However, if you’re still not sure if your need orthotics or not, then consult our Registered physiotherapists for help. We’re specialized in assessing and preparing customized orthotics that fit well for individuals. Also, we prefer not to suggest orthotics unless it is absolutely necessary.

Symptoms that indicate you need Physiotherapy Orthotics

  1. Standing for a longer duration: Standing for a longer duration can cause injury to the plantar fascia known as plantar fasciitis.  The plantar fascia is a ligament that extends from the heel to toe on the base of your foot. With the help of orthotics, one can relieve the stress placed on plantar fascia from standing all day.
  2. Worn out shoes: Take a look at your shoe tread. Often the soles of shoes might wear down, wearing the tread of your shoes on one side more than the other can be an indication that your foot is rolling inward (Pronating) or turning outward (Supinating).  Orthotics can help you to overcome the problem.
  3. No Arch or high arch in the foot: Regular shoes might not help your feet if you have a very high or low arch. However, orthotics can provide you the support that your regular shoes don’t.
  4. Severe pain in your foot or heal: This problem is often seen in many people but the fact is most of them do avoid foot pain. Instead, they end up blaming the pain on wearing high heels or uncomfortable shoes. Pain in the foot or heal is a common sign of plantar fasciitis and is especially experienced in the morning.
  5. Injury on a Lower limb: If you have recently come across an injury to the hip, knee, leg, or ankle, it could be affecting the pressure that you put on your feet. Unfortunately, this will end up affecting your walk too. Orthotics will help you out to correct your walk.
